North America
As the world’s third largest continent, North America is subdivided into Canada, U.S., and Mexico. Commonly called the “New World”, the largest country in the continent is the United States. North America is divided into four regions including the Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, Great Basin, and the Appalachian Mountains. North America and South America are connected solely by the country of Panama. The US, Canada, and Mexico’s population speak a variety of languages, but primarily English, Spanish and French. From an economic standpoint, the US is the most advanced with the Caribbean being much less developed.
