Northern Europe

As part of the European continent, Northern Europe includes the Nordic countries, Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom, and the Baltic States. The Nordic countries, include the five nation states of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Off the north-west coast of Europe, Ireland is subdivided into the Republic of Ireland, which composes approx. five-sixths of the Island, with the remaining belonging to Northern Ireland. With the Atlantic Ocean to the west and bordered by the North Channel in the northeast, the economy of Ireland has evolved from solely one of agricultural products to one dependent on trade and industry. Lastly the United Kingdom or commonly referred to as Britain occupies the vast majority of the British Isles with the majority of the population on the island of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
