As the largest city in the state of North Carolina, Charlotte is home to a diverse population of people from across the country and the world. Often called the "Queen City," this southern gem has a unique identity unlike any other city in the United States. Residents of Charlotte, who are sometimes called Charlotteans, get to enjoy all of the excitement of an urban environment, but also benefit from a decidedly small town feel. With several bustling cultural areas, plenty of great shopping destinations, and spectacular restaurants serving up some of the greatest cuisine ever known to man, Charlotte is truly in a league all of its own.

Many new residents of Charlotte set out searching for apartments in Charlotte's "uptown," or city center. Charlotte's center is mainly home to office highrises, hotels, and restaurants, but there are also a few luxury condos available for rent from time to time. Residents living uptown get to experience some of the hustle and bustle of bigger metropolises around the country, making it a good fit for those who love the urban jungle.

Some renters may instead wish to consider homes in Dilworth, a neighborhood located just south of uptown. This area is primarily composed of small bungalow homes, making it an ideal location for families looking for a long-term rental. Characterized by its sweeping city streets and large oak trees, Dilworth is a quiet area that exudes charm and sophistication at every turn.

While finding an affordable rental is the top priority for some new residents in Charlotte, others may be more concerned with finding pet-friendly rentals where Fido can come along. Charlotte is fortunate to have several different dog parks, including the Frazier Neighborhood Dog Park. There are many great homes and townhouses to choose from in neighboring Wesley Heights and the Third Ward.

If proximity to local shopping centers is an important factor, new renters will likely want to look at apartments in SouthPark. SouthPark is a large neighborhood, home to the largest mall in the state of North Carolina, the SouthPark Mall. Residents enjoy shopping at major national retailers and local companies alike in this shopping center. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes where one can grab a quick dinner or enjoy a tasty cappuccino on a Saturday morning.

Charlotte is fortunate to have mass transit options provided by the Charlotte Area Transit System. With an assortment of buses, trolleys, shuttles, and light rail options to choose from, Charlotte residents are never far from where they need to head. Renters expecting to commute to work may wish to look for an apartment complex or house near transportation.

With its sea of people, unique local history and heritage, and charming hometown feel, its no wonder Charlotte remains such a popular destination. Fortunately for new city residents, there are plenty of different rental options to take into consideration when on the housing hunt. From Section 8 housing to furnished luxury condos, Charlotte is a city that has something to offer everyone.
