Forming part of the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, Fort Worth is one of the largest cities in the state of Texas. Once established as an Army outpost, today Fort Worth is a major economic and cultural center, serving as the gateway to the American West. Many of the city's residents commute to jobs in other parts of the Metroplex, though Fort Worth is also home to several large companies of its own. Fort Worth also has many university campuses and institutes of higher learning.

Renters headed to Ft Worth have many different neighborhoods to explore. The city is broken up into many different areas, some of which may be better suited to renters than others. Finding the right fit is simply a matter of determining what the renter is looking for in his or her housing hunt.

Located on the southeast side of Fort Worth, Polytechnic Heights is home to Texas Wesleyan University, meaning there is an abundance of student housing in this neighborhood. Duplexes, lofts, and small apartments can be found scattered throughout the area. Some of these long-term rentals may be available furnished, eliminating the need to purchase costly furniture to fill the residence.

In spite of the college's location, Polytechnic Heights is also home to many other residents. If renters are looking for Section 8 housing, this would be a great neighborhood to consider. There are also several restaurants and stores catering to the college crowd in Polytechnic Heights, often referred to simply as "Poly."

The Ft Worth Stockyards is an area saturated in local history, and is even listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the area retains much of the identity it once had as a cattle processing ground, with area businesses and restaurants themed around this concept. Renters can find loft apartments and condos in this part of Fort Worth, with the local bars and restaurants providing plenty of entertainment for residents.

Those looking for upscale housing will likely want to focus their efforts on Rivercrest, a prestigious area near the Rivercrest Country Club. This luxurious area of town is home to many different forms of housing, including large family homes, apartment buildings, and small bungalow style residences. Finding the perfect match should be easy for renters on the hunt in Rivercrest. Many of the newer apartment buildings are also pet-friendly, which is great for tenants who wish to bring their four-legged pal along with them.

Fort Worth's unique local heritage and history has been transformed into a bustling city that retains much of the image of yesteryear. Residents in Fort Worth get to experience the best of both worlds, enjoying a smaller community that forms part of a huge metropolis. With natural areas and bustling commercial districts located about equidistant from Fort Worth, those who call this region home can experience both parts of life every single day. This is one of the reasons Fort Worth remains such a popular place to call home, with just under a million people living here.
