Ballard is a historic neighborhood with a distinct Scandinavian flair. This neighborhood, an independent city annexed by Seattle in 1907, is one of the hottest rental markets in Seattle. Residents of Ballard can escape from the hustle of the city at the nearby Golden Gardens Park, a coastal park in northern Ballard. To the south, Ballardites can visit the historic Chittenden Locks, called the Ballard Locks by residents of Seattle.
