There are a lot of Los Angeles houses for rent scattered throughout the city. When you are in search of a place to call home, you want to check out a few different communities. Whether you want to be in the heart of downtown or closer to the beach, there are a number of different options. The more you familiarize yourself with the area, the easier it will become to know where you want to live.

The sizes of homes can vary dramatically in Los Angeles. The majority of homes here are one story, single family homes. However, you can find two story ones as well as duplexes that can be more affordable. Two, three and four bedroom homes are going to be easier to find than the larger ones as well.

The closer you get to the city, the more expensive the houses will be. Further, if you get into one of the gated communities, you will likely be paying more as well. The benefit of the gated communities is more features however. It's not uncommon to live in a community that offers its residents tennis courts, walking paths, hiking trails and even community swimming pools.

Inside the homes, you want to pay attention to the features as well. Gourmet kitchens, luxurious bathrooms, skylights and screened in lanais are common in many of the Los Angeles homes for rent. Especially if you plan on living here for a few years, you want to feel very comfortable in your surroundings.

Pet-friendly homes in LA are not always easy to find. If you have dogs, cats or other critters, you will need to get permission from the landlord before you move in. Some places will flat out refuse pets. Others will require that you put down a security deposit to protect themselves against any damage to the house.

If you are in town on business or you are starting from scratch, you may want to look for furnished homes for rent. These will provide you with all of the furniture you need. Depending on the home you find, other things may be included as well. You may be able to move in with just your clothes as the dishes, linens and everything else will already be inside the home.

The Los Angeles area can be a stunning area to call home. You want to make sure that you choose a neighborhood that is close to work, close to school or close to anywhere else that you will visit often. Spending the time to look at a few neighborhoods can also be advantageous. This will give you a good sense of where you want to be to make it easier to find the best house possible.
