If you like the idea of living in an exciting city that always has something going on, make sure that you take a moment to think about renting a house in Chicago. Chicago is known as a city where things happen, and if you want to be a part of it, you'll find that there is nothing better than simply living there. Whether you are someone who is on your own or you are invested in bringing your family to the Windy City, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, Chicago is a fairly cold city; the joke goes that it is a city that gets nine months of snow and then three months of mud. If you are moving to this city from the south, it is always a good idea to choose a rental house that is well insulated and which has a great heating system. This is absolutely an important priority. If you choose to live on the lakefront, the water from the lake does help warm adjacent areas somewhat, but the temperatures are still very chilly in the winter months. The summer months, however, can be quite hot, so be sure to look for air conditioning as well!

When you are thinking about moving to Chicago, take a moment to think about what neighborhoods you might be curious about. Chicago is a very diverse city, and the more research that you put into where you want to live, the happier you will be. For example, if you are a young urban professional, and you want a house that matches your lifestyle, consider Roscoe Village. This Chicago neighborhood has some great dining, and the community is very welcoming as well. On the other hand, if you have a deep investment in a traditional neighborhood with plenty of gorgeous bungalows to be had, think about moving to Ravenswood. This area is known for having a small town feel that nonetheless has all the charm of the big city. If you are after convenience, make sure that you think about Lakeview, which has a little bit of something for everyone. It is centrally located on the Chicago public transit system, and you will find that it has some great dining options.

When you are thinking about moving to Chicago, consider whether or not you need a garage. There are plenty of people who decide that Chicago is a great place to go without a car. If you are in the right place, you can simply use the public transit system to get where you need to go.

If you are invested in seeing what life is like in Chicago, take a moment to check out some great rental homes in the areas that appeal to you the most.
